University of Alabama Culverhouse General Business Major

Chase Schroeder, a Birmingham, Alabama-based sales professional, works with Bell Partners as an assistant community manager. He is also the son of the president of South Central Steel (SCS). Like many business professionals Chase Schroeder studied the field in college, and he attended the University of Alabama from 2012 to 2014.

The Culverhouse College of Commerce at the University of Alabama has five departments, with the general business major program overseen by the Department of Management. In the general business major, students learn a small slice of almost every business-related subject including law, economics, and accounting. The major offers unparalleled flexibility, with a choice of classes for each area of the field, such as sales, ethics, and economics.

Those hungry for more knowledge can add one of the Culverhouse College of Commerce specializations to the degree program. The New Venture Creation specialization, for instance, includes classes focused on starting one's own business. The Management Communication program, meanwhile, helps students hone their ability to speak and present data in a business context.
